Serás tu e mais ninguém

29 de Maio de 1962 – o teatro Municipal do Funchal está cheio. O grande concurso – à procura de artistas, patrocinado pela Disco Radio, chamou à sala de espetáculos da capital madeirense muita gente.

Os quatro primeiros classificados foram premiados com uma viagem a Lisboa e alojamento e um ferro de engomar elétrico. Durante o concurso, foram sorteados outros prémios e escolheu-se a princesa e o príncipe da Radio Madeirense.  O Júri foi composto pelo Chefe da Banda Militar da Madeira, o senhor Sílvio Lindo Pleno, por Patricia, distinta artista da Boite do Golden Gate, pelo doutor Fonseca Duarte, advogado e pelo Diretor artístico da Banda Distrital do Funchal o senhor Abílio Pinto Ribeiro. A comissão organizadora era composta pelos irmãos Freitas: Rufino, Mário e José e ainda por Teodoro Silva. A acompanhar os artistas estava a orquestra do Golden Gate dirigida por Fernando Potier.

 A noite já ia alta quando Helena Paula e Carlos Alberto anunciaram o 2º classificado - CARLOS GAMA , com o bolero Serás tu e mais ninguém; escrito por Teodoro Silva e musicado pelos irmãos Freitas.  E assim começou uma aventura inesquecível … e um amor para a vida toda.

29th May 1962 – the Municipal Theater in Funchal is crowded. The contest – looking for an artist, sponsored by Disco Radio, has invited many people to the show.

The first four classified gained a trip to Lisbon and an electric iron. During the contest other prizes were given and the prince and princess of the Madeira Radio were elected. The jury was composed by several elements: the chief Director of the Military Band, Sílvio Lindo Pleno, Patricia, an artist from the local disco Golden Gate, the lawyer Fonseca Duarte and the Director of the Municipal Band of Funchal, Abílio Pinto Ribeiro. The organizing commission was formed by the Freitas brothers: Rufino, Mário and José and also by Teodoro Silva. The Golden Gate orchestra directed by Fernando Potier accompanied the singers.

Almost at the end of the night, Helena Paula and Carlos Alberto announced the 2^nd prize – CARLOS GAMA who had sung a bolero – Serás tu e mais ninguém, written by Teodoro Silva and composed by the Freitas brothers. And so an unforgettable adventure started … and so did a lifetime love affair.
